Chinese Antique Circular Catchall Tray

This handpainted circular dish displays a traditional Chinese landscape lake scene. The antique enamel circular dish features a thatched hut on the land placed center with the small boat placed to the left of the above—the mountains, trees, and elements of nature placed above those of the markings of civilization—the border of the dish decorated in an array of flowers and vines.

We estimate this dish was made circa 1900, the underside import handpainted stamp marked “China.” This dish was acquired from a New England collection of Chinese enamelware dishes and other decorative objects.

This object measures 3.74 inches in diameter.

This item displays surface wear and enamel fading. The underside displays an asymmetrical structure, cracking to the enamel surface and denting.
