Chinese Antique Republic Period Porcelain Vases

Republic Period (1912-1949) 20th century

Chinese Antique Porcelain Vases decorated in the famille rose style date to the republic period (1912-1949). Each vase displays a mirror of two landscape scenes of Chinese folklore and fables. The sides and underside of each vessel display hand-painted apocryphal Qianlong seals. These seals pay homage to the imperial Chinese porcelain created at the imperial ceramic and porcelain kilns of Jingdezhen. Jingdezhen is a city that has produced Chinese porcelain for over a thousand years since the reign of Emperor Zhenzong.

These vases are decorative and ideal as home accents for a buffet table or console in which a pair of vases is desired. Antique pairs of such objects are rare, and one can overlook the necessary condition of this well-priced set. Found in a midwest collection, these objects were found as lamps drilled and mounted for lighting.—an unfortunate occurrence for such rare objects. The present owner had decided to unmount them and use them as decorative dry flower vases.
