Chinese Export Blue and White Pottery Dish

$274.95

Ming Dynasty 15th-16th century

Dated to the Ming dynasty, circa the 15th-16h century, this Chinese export blue and white pottery dish for sale is a unique addition to one’s collection of Asian antiques and Southeast Asian ming dynasty period ceramics. The center hornless dragon or Chilong is also known as a young dragon or baby dragon. The dish is most probably possibly a form of Chinese export intended for the Southeast Asian market.

The small circular footed dish is decorated with an off white and muted soft blue decoration, similar to Hoi An shipwreck pottery and ceramics or what one may refer to as Annamese ceramics from the 15-16th centuries. The dish part of a collection of Southeast Asian blue and white ceramics dating to the 14-16th centuries acquired from the collection of a prolific collector of antiquity in the Northeast.
