Shop this antique gutta percha picture frame for sale. This antique frame is dated with patent July 21, 1868 – Feb 15. This 19th-century antique Victorian-era frame includes a brass wire stand to place on a table or desk—the front of the frame with flora and fauna and shell decoration.

Gutta-percha is a black rubbery organic material produced from tropical plants (Sapotaceae palaquium). It was used in jewelry, picture frames, and early photograph cases during the mid-nineteenth century.


The exterior frame 5.4 x 4.1 inches. The internal area from the reverse measures 3.7 x 2.4 inches.


The frame has minor chips and imperfections. The surface with dust on the surface. The reverse rim with a small cracked area/loss and with glue residue on the reverse.
