Oribe Pottery Tray

Discover this oribe pottery tray for sale. This exquisite Japanese glazed ceramic stoneware rectangular tray dates to the early 20th century, circa the Taisho-Showa era and is a fine example of Mingei style Japanese folk art. Oribe ware dates back to the 16th century and, along with a similar style of Japanese pottery types of stoneware glaze known as Shino glaze, continued the tradition into the early 20th century in the formats of modern Japanese ceramics and pottery.

This ceramic tray displays a freely applied moss green glaze and abstract with black oxidized floral designs with areas of mineral oxidization in the stoneware clay. The colors, as a result, play off the palette of the black and green aesthetic or a neon green aesthetic.

The dish creates an organic quality in an interior and is suited to a minimalist interior, a style looking to mimic a style of zen decor, or for anyone that collects oribe ware and oribe pottery. The tray makes a wonderful catchall tray for holding small objects or is suited as a stand-alone decorative object for tabletop decor.

The ceramic tray is in overall fine condition with a minor flawed and symmetrical variation in the rectangular shape. The earthenware pottery displays minor kiln firing crack impurities.
