Of stoneware, decorated with center tree design in iron oxide. The areas of dark green glaze with splatters of muted teal. The rectangular dish with exterior tapered ribbed edges and the underside is decorated with raw unfinished panels. The dish with stylistic elements of contemporary Showa period ceramics and design coupled with a traditional element in the origins of 16th century Oribe stoneware.
A delicate and unique Japanese stoneware dish, ideal for tabletop decor as a catchall dish or decorative dish for a mantle or other tabletop surface. The dish with vibrant and rich colors as well as organic or muted style tones that works well in both a modern or traditional interior. The dish is unsigned and is, in our opinion, in the style of or in imitation of the renowned Showa period artist Kitaoji Rosanjin.
