Antique Chinese Jade Bowl and Cover

Dating to the 18th-19th century, Jiaqing period, 1896-1820 or Daoguang period 1821-1850, this pale celadon russet jade bowl and cover are a wonderful addition to any collection of fine Chinese antiques, jade carving, and Chinese decorative works of art. The bowl is decorated with incised prunus flowers that wrap around the bowl and cover, and the jade stone is semi-translucent.

The bowl features delicately rounded sides that rise from a finished short footing to an inverted rim. The cover is further fitted with a low domed cover with a circular flared knob, top. The bowl is a precious jade carving with a highly buffed glossy finish and cool. It is a perfect addition to any Chinese art collection or jade collection for those interested in Qing dynasty jade and hard stone works of art. The bowl was acquired via auction in the 1970s and was part of a museum collection by repute and thence by descent from a North American collection of Asian art.
