Shop this old New Orleans photograph for sale by FSA photographer Marian Post Wolcott. This gelatin silver print was printed from the original negative. The negative is cataloged in the Library of Congress as LC-USF34- 057017-D [P&P] LOT 1680 (corresponding photographic print). The original negative was cataloged as part of the Farm Security Administration’s collection – Office of War Information Photograph Collection (Library of Congress). Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington, DC 20540.
The sheets reverse with a Library of Congress handstamp and hand signed “Wolcott: New Orleans” with inventory notations, in pencil, in an unknown hand, on verso. Printed 1960s. The original photograph negative dated to August 1940. This original photograph was part of the FSA photography program catalog by Roy Stryker, part of Styker’s shooting scripts. The black and white photograph depicts a daytime street scene depicting a street corner in New Orleans in front of the Dog House Nite Club, on Rampart, and Bienville streets in the French Quarter.
