Shop this old New Orleans photograph for sale by FSA photographer Marian Post Wolcott. This gelatin silver print was printed from the original negative. The negative is cataloged as LC-USF33-031190-M5-[P&P] (corresponding photographic print). The original negative was cataloged as part of the Farm Security Administration’s collection – Office of War Information Photograph Collection (Library of Congress). Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington, DC 20540.
The sheets reverse with a Library of Congress handstamp, inscribed and signed ” Sunday afternoon in New Orleans, La – Jan 1941 Marion Post Wolcott – photo” with inventory notations, in pencil, in an unknown hand. Printed 1960s. The original photograph negative, dated January 1941. This original photograph was part of the FSA photography program catalog by Roy Stryker, part of Styker’s shooting scripts. The black and white photograph depicts a street scene of a man pushing an ice cream cart down a cobblestone sidewalk in New Orleans, presumably the French Quarter.
