A prolific master of the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century, Berchem frequently painted pastoral landscapes with biblical scenes and architectural elements of the Roman age. Such scenes were a prominent narrative of Berchem.

					The sheet displays elements of toning and foxing, with light sporadic oxidation staining, mainly in the margin edges. The margins with pencil notations and the margins unevenly trimmed.
