							Product Information
This antique English art print engraving is dated to the early 19th century, circa 1820, and is modeled after the work by the Italian renaissance period artist Domenichino. The image depicts the lifeless Cleopatra inspected by the invading Romans. Rather than be humiliated in defeat, Cleopatra and Mark Anthony determined to avoid capture through poisoning. The image of the lifeless, yet beautiful Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, is a powerful narrative of the rise and fall of great power. The image displays stunning detail in classical Roman or Greek columns and the plush interior of Cleopatra’s inner chambers.

The engraving print is English and by the artist Edward Smith, as marked, “E. Smith Sculpt,” and “Domenichino Pinxit,” notating the model is based on the original painting by Domenichino, noted on the left edge as the original artist of attribution.
