This original painting was painted during the early 20th century. Based on the style and signature, it may be French. Naturalist scenes of animals and big cats, such as panthers, lions, tigers, jaguars, and other categories, have always captured the artist’s attention for an exciting subject. This curious scene depicts a large spotted cat and a rattlesnake in a desert theme landscape—the two subjects center in a confrontational pose. The snake is ready to strike and the cat looks surprised. It is surrounded by desert-related flora and fauna. A cactus positioned below the cat’s feet, with desert plants placed on the upper of the oil on board.
