Product Information
Shop this Japanese boxwood bead, dated to the Meiji era of the 19th century. This carved Japanese bead features decorated floral ornaments, floral petal top and bottom designs, and criss-cross ornamented panels. This bead appeared to feature a fine lacquer coating. While we feel this bead may be carved from boxwood, it is also possible it is carved from a nut or other type of organic material.
This bead may have been used initially as an ojime bead combined with inro and netsuke. However, this bead would function wonderfully for anyone looking to purchase a rare collectible bead for a beaded necklace, beaded bracelet, or another type of beaded jewelry.
