Product Information
Vintage modern decor meets boho chic in this 1970s-1980s glazed ceramic hand-made ceramic table vase. The small bud vase form is suited for a single flower stem, floral decor, or stand-alone for any tabletop accent, cabinet, or shelf accent.
The surface of this item is decorated in a malted flambe Shiwan style glaze, in the manner of Ming and Qing dynasty Chinese pottery. Shiwan ware has been used in Chinese pottery as a pottery glaze for over 500 years. The vessel features a colored wash of malted purple and cream tones. The abstract pottery tapered vase features an organically shaped lip with a partially ruffled edge.
From the second half 20th century, this vase features an underside signed in symbol in the stoneware style clay, with cork pads to protect any surface. This hand-made studio pottery vase probably originates from a studio or potter in the United States.
While the style of this vase certainly fits any mid-century modern, danish modern, or Scandinavian style interior, or room, it also would serve as a fitting home accent for anyone looking to decorate in an Arts and Crafts, art nouveau style. This item can be used indoor or outdoor; should someone search for a small accent for a garden table should be fine in moderate climates during the spring and summer months. The stem vase or bud vessel is heavily potted so it should not tip over, so long as a proportionate flower is used, and it is not put in a place where it may be easily knocked over if one is using it to hold a flower and stem.
