							Product Information
This exquisite Egyptian beaded collar necklace made of faience is an attractive piece of history. This jewelry was ancient in origin, likely crafted during the late period or later, C. 664-332 BC. From the fine faience material to the delicate colors and shapes of each individual bead, it’s an eye-catching work of art. Faience is a non-clay ceramic paste that uses quartz sands instead of clay as its base material. Consequently, it has been a popular choice for many pieces found among ancient burial sites. As historians look back over Egypt’s past, they are able to gain insight into their society through these iconic ornaments and their subsequent techniques used in creating such beauty with their limited resources. The gilt metal mounting is probably later in date. The c-form clasp appears to be from the 20th century.
									Dimensions
The necklace measures 17.25 inches in total length.
									Condition
The mounting is uneven and probably later. The fittings appear to have been replaced and contemporary—the beaded with imperfections and defects, some with loss and chips.
