Product Information
The ancient Roman bronze mirror was a highly polished metal disk used for personal grooming. Mirrors were considered to be an important part of Roman personal accessories. This particular mirror is circular. The back of the mirror is slightly convex, which would have helped to produce a clear reflection. Bronze mirrors were produced in a variety of sizes, but this particular example is quite small, measuring just under five inches in diameter. Although it is now somewhat tarnished, it is still possible to see the high level of craftsmanship that went into its making. This mirror provides a fascinating glimpse into the everyday life of the ancient Romans. This mirror was acquired by an archeologist in Rome during the early 1930s and retained its original paper label with ink pen writing labeled Roman Mirror”.
